Happy God’s Day! I hope you had a blessed day today and that you met all of your goals for the day!
Sundays typically have been the day that the devil most tempted me. However, that all changed this morning. I have finally put my foot down on eating out every single Sunday whether before or after church. It’s like on Sundays I let my guard down! Just when I let it down is when the devil comes strolling on in tempting me with his evil syrupy sugary carby evilness! So I’ve decided to remove the temptation….
Wake up: 715am
Weight: I refuse to get on the scale today. After the carb laden dinner from Sat night I just feel it would be unnecessary torment!
16oz of water (8 calories because I’m a lemon fanatic!)
Morning coffee mojo! Mmm coffee! (30 calories)
I appreciate that I need to eat something before I head of to church or by the time it’s done I’ll be gnawing at my arms. So I decide on my old standby. This may sound peculiar but one of the most filling things I’ve discovered is protein powder…. Mmmm protein! *insert laugh here*
Now normally if I wanted to use all my breakfast calories I would use a scoop of protein powder (100 calorie variety), one banana, 6oz lite yogurt, and then my secret ingredient….. 1tsp of orange sugar free Metamucil. The taste is very banana/orangie/creamsicle goodness!
Today however I went straight for creamsicle goodness! Forget the banana and the yogurt I’m saving up for my after church lunch….. I mixed 1 scoop of vanilla whey protein powder and 1tsp of SF Metamucil. I blended it with 1 cup of water and 6 big ol’ ice cubes.
I ingest Metamucil on a regular basis. I am well regular because of that! I suffer from IBS which if not kept in check by diet requires some medication that has unpleasant side effects!
Back to the shake…. This creamsicly goodness is just enough protein, carbs, and fiber to get me through services, home, and to cook! With the added church treat… Every week during church I chomp on sugar free hard candies…. Sssshhh don’t tell my Pastor ;)!
When I got home I did have about 5 pretzel sticks (20calories?) while waiting on lunch to be cooked.
On to lunch….
I forgot to take a picture! Shame on me! Hey, give me a break I’m new to this it isn’t habit yet!
I did have two over easy ‘dippy’ eggs, 2 slices of SaraLee 45 calorie multi-grain bread, 1TBSP cardio smart butter blend, and 3 slices of turkey bacon. YUMMY!
So satisfying! Before this journey I probably would have had 3 eggs, 4 pieces of toast, and half a pound of turkey bacon. I then would have felt sick to my stomach and would beat myself up for it. However, I realize now something I didn’t back then. Moderation is the key to life.
Afternoon snack….. Fiber One 140 calorie 35% daily fiber Chocolates and oats bar…. I love these. I do try not to eat them every single day however it is hard to resist them! Mmmm yummms!
I spent a nice chunk of time in the afternoon prepping veggies for later in the week. I am falling in love with raw veggies. I am learning the more raw veggies I eat the fuller I feel longer with less calories spent! If I take a good hour or two on Sundays to make some food ahead of time it makes it super easy for me to grab and go during the week. This is my biggest tip! Pre-Plan! If I wait until the moment I’ll be hurrying or starving and make horrible choices.
I have 3 large containers filled with cucumbers, celery, and washed and dried carrots.
Additionally in my fridge for this week you will find a vast and ample supply of yogurt, a large bag of fresh broccoli, several zucchini from my mother’s garden, rotiserrie chickens, and a very large jug of salsa! :P
Ok back to today…. Dinner time rolled around and I had the decision that I must make every Sunday evening… to eat before or after evening services….. I chose before!
I had bought a ‘salad kit’ the was broccoli/slaw/cranberries/sunflower seeds and dressing…. Boy o boy was it yummy. Not exactly low on the calorie scale but not out of site either! I also had a turkey bacon sandwich with 4 slices of leftover tb from lunch and 2 slices of SaraLee 45 calorie bread.
Once I arrived home from church I was craving something salty so I have about a 100 cal of pretzels!
Not bad all in all. Usually Sundays are the hardest days for me to stay focused on my food choices.
Exercise: None!
Praises: I had such a blessed day at church. I’m so thankful to have a church family who is loving and supportive. Also, to have a Pastor who I feels speaks right to all of us where we are in our lives.
I have the day off tomorrow and am going to spend some quality time with my Mama and my baby cousin.
Be Blessed and Be a Blessing!
